It has been my experience that the creative process parallels the spiritual process. The more we open ourselves to the infinite potential of the present moment, the more sincere we become. It is with this sentiment that I have devoted much of my life to consciousness studies and to art. I have discovered that with time and space, I am able to churn my concerns into material that joins people in a communal sensory experience.
I am an artist because in these scarcity driven times, practically everything we experience is attempting to sell us a “better self”. It is my belief that when we stop seeking outside of ourselves for answers and fulfillment, the result is a deep sense of personal authority. Art is the medium through which I can share complex questions and concerns without using persuasion.
I work primarily in the medium of dance. That said, I am interested in dissolving the walls of separation that exist between audience and artist. Technology makes this possible. So I continue to potentiate my work through visual and digital arts.
One of the primary social concerns that informs my creative process is women's health and autonomy. We continue to live in a world that perpetuates stale beliefs about women, our bodies, and our roles in the home and in the culture. Many of these beliefs are aimed at silencing and diminishing the female voice. I am a Feminist who does not wish to abandon my Femininity, rather I intend to empower femininity through my creative and healing work.
Dance is a universal language that has the potential to communicate the subtle and sensory
realms of the human experience, it has and will always be, my first love. Movement and Storytelling are two of the most primal art forms; and they share the unique characteristic of bringing folks together.
